I'm Rich

Lately, I've been feeling stressed about money. Starting my own company has been a rewarding, yet humbling experience. Even writing that, admitting to the world that I am stressed about money is humbling. It's hard, I'm not used to it. I have the freedom, but I don't have the security of a nice paycheck direct deposited in my account every two weeks without fail.

I have to be honest. It's been stressing me out, causing my anxiety to soar, for me to shut down and be a ball of worry. Not cute. Not happy. Not thankful.

I wasn't going to post today but in reading so many of your wonderful Thankful lists and Gratitude posts, I got a reality check.

I feel that as bloggers, as fashion bloggers as so many of us are, sometimes we loose ourselves in the next big purchase, the shoes she has that we need now, etc. I am only speaking for myself here that I have felt the pressure to keep up...never before have I had hundreds of people caring about the contents of my closet.

Fashion is my passion. It's what I do. Straight outta high school to FIDM to working in the industry. It is separate from shopping and keeping up with the joneses. I'm not saying I won't be shopping, or won't be buying a new pair of Loubies, that I won't be filling up this blog with Balmain or things I DIE over anymore. OF COURSE I WILL, duh! But...

Today...I am thankful for what I have. I am thankful that I have my family, my best friends who catch me when I am falling, a little dog who brings me a toy every time I walk in the door, a roof over my head, a car, food, that I never go without. I am thankful I am loved, and that I love, deeply. I am thankful that Black Label Media Group might be small now, but it's going to be HUGE. I am thankful that my heart is mending, and that I have some great and sexy (ohh wee) options on the table. I am thankful I have some great hair. I am thankful for Gabby, best wombmate ever. I am thankful for wine. I am thankful for my health. I am thankful for the opportunities I have and my bright future. I am also extremely thankful for peanut M&M's. Just sayin.

I am very thankful that you are here. I started this blog almost a year ago, never expecting any of well...this. I hope that I have touched your lives as much as you have touched mine and we can continue to support each other on our journeys.

I am rich, in the best way ever.

Happy, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from me. I heart you.

I stress daily about money. But when I take a step back and look at the big picture, I too am rich - in the absolute best way ever. To love and be loved is as rich as you ever are going to be.
And a-freaking-men on some great and sexy options on the table, as well as wine.
Love you lady... you'll get through this. and BLMG IS going to be huge! *Hugs*

I love you, beautiful! And I am totes thankful for you on this holiday! I know that Black Label Media Group is going to totally skyrocket because you have the dedication and the drive to do what it takes to become incredibly successful. And you're right. You do have some effing phenomenal hair! I'd hire you based on hair alone! haha. I kid, I kid! In all seriousness, you've got the brains, you've got the style, and you've got the determination to be the next big thing and let's face it - you've totally got the world by the balls!! :) And when I start opening the glossies and seeing your signature pout and flawless tresses, I'll flip my own hair and proudly say, "That's my girl right there. And if you mess with her, Imma mess you up!"

Happy Thanksgiving, girlie! Thanks for being such a rockstar!

I hope you keep all these posts archived so one day we can all say, YES, I READ HER BLOG!!

I'm thankful for you, Miss Lizzy Marie. For all the tips, the crazy high heels, how we can relate on the big hair (no one understands me, lol!), and your relationship with Gabby. I don't have a sister, but if I ever miraculously have one, I'd hope it'd be like yours.

Happy Thanksgiving! You have much to be grateful for.

That was a really beautiful and honest post, thank you for this, I loved it! I know how you feel and I have often to remind myself for the small things I need to be happy for and that I will survive even without a new pair of shoes or bags. I am stressed too lately about money because there will be some changes within the next months but taking a step back and close my eyes for a sec always helps me

I love you, Liz! Loads and loads! I'm so glad you posted today, because you made my Thanksgiving that much better! And you should totally be thankful for your hair, because it is basically amazing to the tenth power (so sad that I am using algebraic terms in a comment).

I'm thankful for you. And blogger friends. And cupcakes. And people who are willing to take time out of their lives to give others advice about confusing situations (you again). And cute boys (despite the fact that they are so aggravating sometimes). And mixtapes. But mainly you! :)

happy thanksgiving (: urgh, money. I hate to think about money when I'm still a student, lucky enough to live off my parents for the rest of my education. The real headache will come much later when I try my luck out in the big big world! alot of the time our riches are alot more than numbers, eh? xo

What size are your feet?
If you say 6.5, I won't be able to tell you I don't give a fig what's in your closet.

Stressing about money is something responsible people of all social statuses do on a regular basis. I'm there - daily and I do have a bi-weekly pay cheque. (Since I'm always brually honest,) I envy you the choice; the freedom and courage it took to realize what you want and go for it, despite having more stress in many areas. The experience will be rewarding no matter what the outcome and you will always have people there to catch you if it's less than... unbeweavable ;)

I wish I could. So, even though it's not Thanksgiving in Canada, I'm thankful for people like you; that I can read your entries and feel better and more secure.

Lovely post! I think in a way, you just have to look at it objectively and realize that there are people out there who are a lot worse off. As long as you have a roof over your head, people who love you and who you love back and get any form of income without swimming in debt, you're doing great. I think we work in an industry where we get underpaid to begin with (at least compared to my investment banker and lawyer friends), so it's natural to worry about money regardless of whether or not we have steady jobs, work freelance (which I'm doing now) or just starting our own business.

Oh and I know what you mean about the material things. There's nothing wrong with pampering yourself, but it's easy to get caught up in the hype... Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!

i hope the cash starts rolling in soon! i know it is hard to start a business, and i bet the stress is immense. but they also say the only real way to make good money is to take risks and strike out on your own. and you are doing that! i am sure it will pan out, and hopefully soon! and in the meantime it sounds like the rest of your life is all good, so that is pretty rad!

Elizabeth I wish you all the luck I can muster. I think that is amazing that you have your own business. I work two men that started their own business & the days they get a "Payment" sorta speak they are jumping through the roof. Money is uber stressful, when I was in college I was a wreck about money. It's a better now but I wouldn't be able to afford a new pair of Versache's now. But one day. One day things pay off. I'm glad your thankful for your life, that's awesome. You really are inspiring, i think I've said that before, but I'm glad I found your blog. I hope you have a wonderful thanksving!! *hugs*

Liz, I think you're amazing for starting your own company! Young and brave and beautiful. You're my hero. Also, I know what you mean about the stress that comes from money being so tight right now! I've never ever been financially rich, but I don't remember being this stressed when it comes to finances before. I hate it, but it's made me rethink so much... I definitely have to change my spending habits... and also, I love the message of thinking about the riches we have that don't need any money at all. It's so true and important! Hope you've had a wonderful Holiday. *besos*

Beautiful post! I was watching TV yesterday and you know that Dodge Ram commercial where they start off by "My tank is full"- I got to thinking, my tank is full- I have everything a person could ever want and need and then some... at the end of the day, not one fabulous bag or how much money in the bank can make you feel rich, but the family and friends that have your back no matter if you're driving a BMW or a Hyundai or if you're carrying the "It" bag of the season or one from Target...

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT MONEY STRESSING! But sometimes you live the best when you have nothing to your name--as odd as it sounds.

you might be thankful for this--

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P243869&categoryId=C17602&shouldPaginate=true

I saw this masterpiece in the new Allure and was like "I AM GOING TO GET IT TOMORROW!" ha ha. I'm sure you have 100,000 things just like this, but its a good on the go kit with tons of colors paired up in the right color family. I've had fun in the same way a two year old would have fun with a makeup kit.

That's one thing I love about Christmas---all those killer deals! :)

Such a true sentiment. It is so important to remember the things that truly matter in a materialistic industry. And you're living the dream starting your own company - don't forget that!

Hope you had a great thanksgiving! The inconsistency of pay is something I can totally relate to - my cash flow is primarily driven by client fees so if we're not making them money, we're not making any either. So bad economy = praying I make enough for rent, etc. Thankful to have a job though, but not-so-mildly jealous of you starting your own company... i'll get there one day, i hope!

Since this, law firm dissolved, which pushed me to finally start my business. Props to you for having the guts. I don't think I would have. But looking back, I see how everything does truly happen for a reason :)
